Rodeo Slack will be held Thursday, April 24th at the Rodeo arena and KUSI News will be broadcasting (6 AM) from the arena that morning. You're Invited!!!!
So, what is Slack?
It's often referred to as the 'best rodeo performance never seen" as it is held before or after (slack time) the regular Rodeo performances. Slack is held in an effort to allow all the cowboys to get in their two allotted rides. Traditionally, Lakeside Rodeo gets such a large number of contestant entries that it would be impossible for all competition rides to take place only during publicly scheduled performances.
Just like a traditional rodeo performance, the announcer works the arena sharing information about the rider, the Arena judges are on hand to score the action and timers are official... you see, Slack competition actually counts toward the main prize, the "Added Money" that cowboys and cowgirls are competing for at the Lakeside Rodeo.
That means the competition is FIERCE! At Slack you are just as likely to see PRCA world champion riders as you are some of your local PRCA competitors. Whether a cowboy competes at a scheduled performance or he rides in Slack is determined by a computer, to ensure fair and impartial assignment.
You are welcome to come on by the Lakeside Rodeo Arena and watch Slack on Thursday morning as it is FREE to the public.
Bring your camera to capture the great Rodeo action, meet the KUSI News Anchors, get Rodeo Queen autographs and Buy your 50th Annual Lakeside T-shirt before the big crowds get there the next day!
